So here I am...

I've always considered myself to be a writer at heart. I've always felt I've had a lot to say, but I'm not one of those people who are eloquent and can say what I'm feeling to someone's face (much to the chagrin of my husband). But for one reason of another, I can put my heart out there - only in writing. My first break-up? A note. The first time I told my husband I was happy to be his girlfriend? An email. Things just flow better under my fingertips.

I think this is why I also got into teaching. As an avid reader, I love discussing literature with whomever will listen. I love to hear the ideas of others: debating the writer's style, the symbolism in the plot, what we would have done differently. And this, I think, lends itself to my writing as well - taking my thoughts and ideas and dreams onto paper, following the paths of the many writers I've come to adore. This is passion that I try to bring into my classroom (though it's not quite so easy with 15-year olds. They'd rather read ESPN magazine and write text messages). Instilling in them a love for reading and writing is my ultimate goal. Having kept in touch with a few former students, I know it has at least stuck with someone along the way. I can't ask for much more than that. There is no bigger compliment, well, to me at least, that they loved reading Julius Caesar - because of me!

So, then, what the hell is this blog going to be about? Well, probably, for the most part, about me ranting. I also consider myself to be an observer of human nature. I tend to have a lot to say, and I think my husband is getting tired of hearing about it. What better outlet is there than the internet? I already write for an MMA website (www.cagetoday.com), but all I can talk about there is MMA! I need more than that! I need to breathe! I need to rant and scream! I hope for your sake that you'll agree with...I've been told that I like to argue too :P
